Terms and conditions
Last updated 21 July 2026.
These terms cover boards ordered from Watta Surfboards and places booked at Shapecamp. By ordering or booking you agree to them. Watta Surfboards is run by Luis Brito, Arelho, Óbidos, Portugal.
Made to order boards
Every Watta is hand shaped to order. There is no stock sitting on a shelf; your board is built for you once you order. The sizes and volumes shown on the site are a starting point, and Luis will confirm the final dimensions with you before shaping.
Lead time
The current lead time is 15 to 31 days from order to ready, depending on blank availability. This is an honest estimate, not a guaranteed date. If anything will take longer, Luis will tell you.
Prices, deposits and payment
- Prices are in euros. A board is confirmed once a deposit is paid, which starts the build. The balance is due before dispatch or collection.
- An instant order taken through the site is a deposit toward your made to order board; Luis confirms your final dimensions with you before shaping begins.
Cancellations and returns
Because each board is made to your specification, the usual 14 day right of withdrawal for online purchases does not apply, as allowed under EU consumer law for personalised or made to measure goods. If you need to cancel, contact Luis as soon as possible: before shaping starts we will do our best to help, but once your board is being shaped the deposit covers work and materials already committed and is not refundable. This does not affect your legal rights if a board arrives faulty.
Faults and the nature of hand made boards
Each board is checked before it leaves the workshop. A hand shaped board carries small, natural variations, these are part of the craft and are not faults. If your board arrives damaged, tell us within 48 hours with photographs and we will put it right. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
Shapecamp
Shapecamp places are booked with a deposit. If you need to move or cancel a booking, contact us as early as you can; deposits cover materials and reserved time and may not be refundable close to your dates. Full Shapecamp details are on the Shapecamp page.
Surfing carries risk
Surfing is an inherently risky activity. A board is equipment, not a safety device. Surf within your ability, know the conditions, and use appropriate leash and gear.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Portugal.
