Build your
own board
Spend four to five days designing and building your own surfboard by hand, one to one with Luis Brito, then paddle out on it. You leave with a board you shaped yourself and the knowledge of how it was made, from a foam blank to a finished board under your arm.
High quality materials, safety gear and every tool are provided, across every stage of building a board. No experience needed, only the want to make something with your hands.
What the days look like
- Design. Work out the board with Luis, the shape, the dimensions and how it should surf for you.
- Shape. Take a blank and shape it by hand, planing, tuning and refining the foam.
- Paint or tint. Colour it your way, a resin tint or a paint finish.
- Glass. Laminate and set the board under supervision.
- Sand and polish. Bring it back to a clean, finished surface, and it is yours.
The exact day by day running order is set with you when you book, around the finishes you choose.
Who it is for
Complete beginners who have never touched a board build, and experienced surfers who want to understand what is under their feet. Luis teaches to the person in front of him, so a complete beginner gets a board they can be proud of and a seasoned surfer gets into the finer detail of outline, rocker and foil.
It suits anyone who would rather make than buy, and anyone who wants a few days on the Portuguese coast doing something real with their hands.

The build
Four to five days designing, shaping, finishing and polishing your own board under Watta supervision. Lunch included.
Lunch is provided on build days.
The full week
Everything in package one, plus four nights in a lagoon side location in nature, with breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Booking. A 50 percent deposit secures your dates and is non refundable. The remaining 50 percent is due 7 days before the camp starts.
