Model overview
The high-performance fusion. The Twin Pin Performance strips away the retro bulk of a traditional twin and replaces it with the razor-sharp foil of a modern competition shortboard. Combining the friction-free speed and drawing flow of a twin with the holding security of a clean round pin tail, it gives incredible versatility for progressive surfers who want blinding down-the-line speed and the confidence to hold an edge through critical, high-velocity carves.
It carries speed through fat, mushy sections yet holds rock-solid when you drop into a steep pocket, and the round pin removes the sliding, spinning-out feel of a retro twin for shortboard-like tracking. Like every Watta it is shaped by hand and built to you.
Skill level, advanced
A performance twin for a strong, progressive surfer who wants speed with control. Lean and responsive, low volume in the rails and tail for sharp edge engagement. The chart gives an advanced and fit-intermediate weight for each size.
Design and conditions
- Wave size
- 2ft to 6ft, waist high to well overhead.
- Wave type
- Punchy beach breaks, walled-up points and hollow reef tracks. It carries velocity through fat, mushy sections and holds rock-solid on steep, critical drops.
- Outline
- Sleek, streamlined shortboard silhouette. A slightly wider middle for paddle and momentum, with nose and tail pulled in tightly to eliminate rail catching.
- Rocker
- Moderate-to-high performance rocker. A continuous entry curve for late vertical drops into a fast mid-section and a smooth tail kick for explosive pivots off the lip.
- Bottom
- Deep single-to-double concave into a subtle vee through the tail, so the wide twin footprint rolls rail to rail with instant response.
- Tail
- Refined round pin. Unlike a swallow it anchors, letting you lean heavily into turns and hold a secure line at top speed.
- Fin setup
- Pure twin. Best with modern upright twin fins for pivot and vertical release, or performance keel fins for drawn-out, high-speed lines.
