Model overview
More waves, more fun, effortless progression. The Evolution Funboard is built to maximise your wave count in small to medium conditions. It blends the stability and paddling ease of a longboard with the manoeuvrability of a shortboard, so it suits a beginner stepping down, an intermediate refining their turns, or an advanced surfer wanting a relaxed cruise on weaker days.
It catches waves almost as easily as a longboard with half the bulk, and it is the perfect platform to move from straight hand-planing to clean trim lines and proper face turns. High floatation keeps you riding even when the ocean has very little energy. Like every Watta it is shaped by hand and built to you.
Skill level, beginner to advanced
A true all-comer. Forgiving enough for a beginner stepping off the foamie, rewarding enough for an advanced surfer cruising a weak day. The chart gives an advanced, intermediate and beginner weight for each size, so you can read straight off it.
Design and conditions
- Wave size
- 1ft to 4ft, knee high to chest high.
- Wave type
- Soft beach breaks, slow crumbly points and rolling, weak surf. Catches waves early and glides through dead, flat sections.
- Outline
- Full, generous nose for maximum stability under the chest, so pop-ups are balanced and stress-free.
- Rocker
- Very low entry rocker for easy paddling and early entry, a flat mid-section for speed, and a slight tail lift for easy turning.
- Bottom
- Flat-to-vee or single-to-double concave into a vee tail, so it tilts rail to rail easily.
- Rails
- Full, round and forgiving. Catch-free, so they do not bog in choppy water.
- Fin setup
- Standard thruster or a 2 plus 1, for a predictable, reliable feel.
